What’s the role?

We're actively seeking a Head of Web to lead and evolve the web development department at Arise. You'll be working directly with our Director, Ben, an accomplished web developer, to build and expand a top-tier web team. As we continue to grow, so will your department, eventually encompassing junior developers, designers, and other roles crucial for delivering high-quality web projects.

The role is full-time (40 hours per week, Mon-Fri) and will be based from our office in Sheffield City Centre, with flexible hybrid working options available.

What the role involves

Working with clients to fulfil work via our engagement models…
- Retainers: Offer ongoing support and periodic updates to our long-term clients
- Tasks: Work on distinct, shorter tasks based on specific client needs
- Projects: Lead the initiative on larger projects, such as new website launches or complete redesigns
Handling urgent support issues with finesse
Developing websites from a provided design
Working with the marketing team on any web issues
Solving PHP and MySQL challenges effectively
Lead monthly client review calls

What tech skills you’ll need

Core skills

PHP Central to our backend operations
MySQL Your toolkit for complex data management
HTML & SCSS The foundational languages for our front-end work
Wordpress Essential, with a focus on custom theme development
JavaScript/jQuery Integral for dynamic client-side scripting
SSH Secure server access and management
Gulp Our go-to for automated task management
Smarty Familiarity with this template language is a plus
GIT For version control

Desirable (but not essential) skills

Familiarity with any other platforms such as Laravel
Familiarity with site builders such as Elementor
